Failed rows connection
Resolve common issues when configuring Snowflake or Databricks connections for failed rows queries. This guide covers connection status problems, missing query buttons, and query execution failures.
Connection still shows "Query disabled"
Query Disabled
Cause
The connection status remains "Query Disabled" when one or more required settings are missing or not properly saved. This typically happens when BYOC credentials aren't configured, the "Allow query" toggle isn't enabled, or configuration changes haven't propagated through the system.
Solution
-
Refresh the connection settings page to verify credentials are saved and present
-
Confirm the "Allow query" toggle is enabled and saved
-
Verify you're using BYOC (Basic or SSO) authentication, not default or service credentials
-
Wait a few minutes for configuration changes to propagate through the system
Query button doesn't appear on failed rules
Query failed rows button not visible
Cause
The query button only appears when all conditions are met: the feature is enabled in Labs, the rule has failed, and the rule type supports failed rows queries. If any of these conditions aren't met, the button won't appear.
Solution
-
Check Labs to confirm "Query Failed Rows" is enabled
-
Verify the rule is in a failed state (the button only appears on failed rules)
-
Confirm the rule type supports failed rows queries - see Rule types and failed rows validations
-
Refresh the page or clear your browser cache
Query fails to execute
Query execution failed
Cause
Query execution failures typically occur when credentials lack necessary permissions, the data warehouse is unavailable, or there are authentication or configuration errors.
Solution
-
Verify the credentials can connect to your warehouse from another SQL client
-
Confirm the credentials have SELECT permission on the specific table you're querying
-
Verify the configured warehouse is running and available
-
Review the error message for specific permission or configuration issues
