Query your Atlan Metadata Lakehouse tables directly in Microsoft Fabric with zero copy. An administrator connects a Fabric workspace and Atlan creates a OneLake shortcut for each Iceberg table, making your metadata queryable across Power BI, notebooks, and SQL with no data movement.
Connect Microsoft Fabric to Lakehouse Public Preview
Query your Atlan Metadata Lakehouse tables directly in Microsoft Fabric—zero copy. For how OneLake shortcuts virtualize Lakehouse tables into Fabric, see How it works.
From Admin → Lakehouse → the Fabric tab, an administrator connects a Microsoft Fabric workspace and Atlan creates a Microsoft OneLake shortcut for each Iceberg table in your Metadata Lakehouse. Your metadata tables become queryable across Fabric—Power BI, notebooks, and the SQL analytics endpoint—with no data movement.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- A Microsoft Fabric workspace on a Fabric capacity—either an F-SKU capacity or a Fabric trial.
- A Fabric license for the administrator who signs in to connect.
- Workspace edit rights for that administrator in the target Fabric workspace.
Atlan handles everything else, including the underlying storage. You don't need to provision storage or manage any credentials for this integration.
Connect your Fabric workspace
-
In Atlan, go to Admin → Lakehouse and open the Fabric tab.
-
Select Connect to Fabric. Sign in with your Fabric administrator account and grant consent once. This authorizes Atlan to create OneLake shortcuts in your chosen workspace.
-
(Optional) Apply a table filter to scope which Metadata Lakehouse tables are shortcut-ed. Leave it empty to shortcut all available tables.
-
Select Run setup. Atlan creates a OneLake shortcut for each selected Iceberg table and reports progress as it goes.
When setup finishes, your Metadata Lakehouse tables are available in the connected Fabric workspace, ready to query.
