ENTITY_METADATA Namespace

The ENTITY_METADATA namespace contains the raw metadata tables that map directly to the Atlan metamodel. Use this page to understand how these tables are organized and where to look for different types of assets.

Entity categories in ENTITY_METADATA

The ENTITY_METADATA namespace groups tables by high-level categories:

• Core assets: Fundamental data assets from relational databases and data warehouses. Example entity types include Table, Column, Database, Schema, and View.
• BI assets: Business intelligence assets from tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Looker. Example entity types include BIReport, BIChart, and BIDashboard.
• Lineage: Lineage processes and transformations between assets. Example entity types include Process, BIProcess, and ColumnProcess.
• Governance: Business glossary, terms, and classifications. Example entity types include AtlasGlossary, AtlasGlossaryTerm, and Tag.
• Custom metadata: User-defined metadata attributes applied to assets, stored in custom metadata relationship tables.
• Data quality: Data quality rules, checks, and monitors. Example entity types include DataQualityRule, MCMonitor, and SodaCheck.
• Pipelines: Data pipeline and orchestration assets. Example entity types include AirflowDag, DbtProcess, and MatillionJob.
• Storage: Object storage assets from cloud providers. Example entity types include S3Bucket, S3Object, and GCSBucket.
