How Atlan pricing works

TL;DR

How Atlan is priced: a platform subscription set by edition, cataloged assets, and seats, plus Flexi Credits for the work Atlan AI does, and optional paid add-ons.

Your AI can read this via Docs MCPcurl -fsSL "https://docs.atlan.com/install-docs-mcp" | bashConnect

Atlan pricing has two main parts. A platform subscription covers what you catalog in Atlan and who works in it. Flexi Credits cover the work Atlan AI does on top, such as writing descriptions or answering questions. Some capabilities are also available as paid add-ons.

Your order form sets the prices for your organization. This page explains how the parts fit together and where to find the details for each.

Platform subscription

The platform subscription is the base of every Atlan contract. Three things set it:

  • Edition: Every edition includes Atlan's core capabilities. Higher editions add security and compliance features, and the option to buy paid add-ons.
  • Cataloged assets: The number of assets you catalog is the main driver of platform price. An asset is anything with a profile in Atlan, such as a table, column, or dashboard. To estimate your count before onboarding, use the queries and scripts in Asset estimation.
  • Seats: Admins and Members are paid seats. Guests are free. See roles for what each can do.

Everyday work in Atlan, such as cataloging, browsing, searching, and viewing lineage, is covered by the subscription and never uses Flexi Credits.

Flexi Credits

Flexi Credits are the one unit currency for Atlan AI. Your organization shares one pool, and spends it when Atlan AI does the work:

  • Creating context: Context agents write descriptions, READMEs, SQL Intelligence, and more for your assets.
  • Using context: Conversational AI answers questions in Atlan, Slack, or Microsoft Teams, and advanced MCP tools call Atlan AI from your own agents.

Each action has a fixed rate, published on the Flexi Credits rate card with worked examples. Flexi Credits come from onboarding credits and the packs on your order form, and renew each contract year. For how the pool, contract years, and overage work, see How Flexi Credits work.

Flexi Credits are separate from your asset entitlement. Cataloging an asset is part of the subscription. Enriching it with AI uses Flexi Credits on top. Free Guest seats also draw from the pool when a Guest asks conversational AI a question.

Some capabilities cost extra because they run more infrastructure, connectors, or services for you. Examples include:

Pages for paid add-ons carry a Paid add-on badge. Lakehouse compute is coming soon to the rate card.

Features in preview are generally not charged. Pricing is agreed when a capability is ready for broader rollout. See pricing for preview functionality.

Track usage

Admins can see the Flexi Credit balance, burn rate, and usage by capability, user, and agent in the account usage dashboard.
