Request data access directly from Atlan asset profiles using the Immuta integration. When you click the Immuta CTA on a supported asset, you are redirected to the appropriate Immuta access request page, pre-scoped to the selected asset.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • The Immuta app installed and configured in your Atlan tenant. To set up access request links between Atlan and Immuta, see the Immuta documentation for Atlan integration.
  • An Atlan user account with permissions to view the asset profile for the asset you want to access
  • A connection registered in Immuta that corresponds to the data source in Atlan
  • For data products: a mirrored data product in Immuta with the same ID as in Atlan

The Immuta workflow in Atlan automatically adds access request links to all of your assets and data products. The workflow is point-in-time but can be scheduled to run periodically to capture new objects added to Atlan.

Request access

  1. Navigate to the asset profile for the data asset you want to access in Atlan.

  2. Locate the Immuta CTA in the asset profile. The CTA appears on supported assets that are configured in Immuta. If you don't see the Immuta CTA, verify that:

    • The Immuta workflow has been run on your Atlan tenant
    • The asset is supported by the Immuta integration
    • The corresponding connection is registered in Immuta
  3. Click the Immuta CTA. You are redirected to the appropriate Immuta access request page or form, pre-scoped to the selected asset.

  4. Complete the access request form in Immuta. The request experience varies by asset depending on how access policies, datasets, and request workflows are configured in Immuta. Your request form may include:

    • Dataset-specific request forms
    • Purpose-based access flows
    • Policy-driven approval paths
  5. Submit your access request. Your request is processed according to Immuta's policy-driven access governance workflows. You receive notifications about the status of your request through Immuta's notification channels.
