Import ALTR classification metadata

Configure the Atlan ALTR workflow to import metadata from your ALTR instance and enrich existing assets with trusted classification tags.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Completed Set up ALTR
  • An active ALTR instance with:
    • A connected Snowflake data source
    • A completed classification job for that source
  • Your ALTR API credentials:
    • API key
    • API secret
  • Required permissions:
    • Atlan: Admin or Workflow Admin
    • ALTR: Super Administrator with API credential access

Create workflow

Create a new ALTR workflow in Atlan.

  1. In the top right of any screen in Atlan, click New and then click New Workflow.
  2. From the list of packages, select ALTR and click Setup Workflow.

Configure credentials

Provide ALTR credentials so Atlan can authenticate.

  1. In Credential, enter your ALTR API key and ALTR API secret.
  2. Click Test Authentication to verify connectivity.
  3. After authentication succeeds, click Next.

Configure connection

Set the connection details and admins.

  1. Enter a Connection name.
  2. Update Connection Admins as needed.
  3. Click Next.

Configure mappings and metadata

Map ALTR classification results to the correct Atlan connection.

  1. Select the Atlan Connection containing assets for the same Snowflake source that was used in ALTR.
  2. Select the ALTR Connection the classification job was run on in ALTR.
  3. In Classification Job, select the ALTR job for that Snowflake source.

Currently, one ALTR data source and one ALTR classification job are supported per workflow run.

Run workflow

  1. To validate permissions and configuration before execution, click Preflight checks.
  2. Choose how to run:
    • Click Run for a one-time import.
    • Click Schedule Run to run on a recurring schedule.

After the workflow completes, ALTR-based governance tags appear on mapped assets in Atlan.
