Set up ALTR

Prepare your ALTR environment so Atlan can import ALTR classification metadata.

Permissions required​

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Access to an ALTR account
  • Permission in ALTR to manage data sources, run classifications, and generate API credentials
  • A Snowflake source that's present in both ALTR and Atlan

Prepare ALTR environment​

For source-side setup, follow the ALTR documentation:

  1. Create and set up your ALTR account: Create and set up an ALTR account
  2. Configure your Snowflake source in ALTR: Data source management
  3. Run a classification job in ALTR: Data classification report
  4. Confirm the same Snowflake source is crawled in Atlan so asset mapping works: Crawl Snowflake

Create API credentials in ALTR​

Create an API key and API secret in ALTR for the Atlan integration, then save both values for workflow configuration in Atlan.
