Authenticate SSO credentials to view sample data

Who can do this?

Any Atlan user with data access to the asset and SSO credentials for the connection. Atlan displays a 100-row sample of the data.

Once your connection admins have configured SSO authentication, you can view sample data using your SSO credentials. Atlan currently supports the following connectors for SSO authentication:

To view sample data using shared credentials instead, refer to Provide credentials to view sample data.

Set up your SSO credentials

Atlan supports SSO authentication for viewing sample data from the following connections:

Amazon Redshift

Atlan supports Okta SSO authentication for Amazon Redshift connections. Before you can view sample data with SSO credentials, first enable Okta SSO authentication for Amazon Redshift in Atlan.

To set up your Okta SSO credentials for viewing sample data, for Amazon Redshift:

  1. On the Assets page, click an Amazon Redshift asset to view its asset profile.
  2. From the asset profile, click Sample data.
  3. A Set up SSO authentication for Redshift dialog appears. Click Get started to set up your SSO credentials for the connection:
    1. For Authentication, Okta is the default selection.
    2. For Username, enter your Okta username.
    3. For Password, enter the password for your Okta username.
    4. Click the Test Authentication button to confirm connectivity.
    5. After authentication is successful, click Done.
  4. Close the SSO authentication completed dialog to return to the asset profile.

You can now view sample data using your Okta SSO credentials! 🎉

Google BigQuery

Atlan supports Google OAuth 2.0 SSO authentication for Google BigQuery connections. Before you can view sample data with SSO credentials, first enable SSO authentication for Google BigQuery in Atlan.

To set up SSO credentials for viewing sample data, for Google BigQuery:

  1. On the Assets page, click a Google BigQuery asset to view its asset profile.
  2. From the asset profile, click Sample data.
  3. To set up your SSO credentials for viewing sample data, click Get started.
  4. An Authorizing dialog appears and you are redirected to sign in with your Google account. From the corresponding screen, click Authorize to enable authentication.
  5. After authorization is successful, close the Authorizing dialog.

You can now view sample data using SSO credentials! 🎉

Snowflake

Atlan supports SSO authentication via Snowflake External OAuth for Snowflake connections. Before you can view sample data with SSO credentials, first enable SSO authentication for Snowflake in Atlan.

To set up Snowflake OAuth credentials for viewing sample data, for Snowflake:

  1. On the Assets page, click a Snowflake asset to view its asset profile.
  2. From the asset profile, click Sample data.
  3. To set up your Snowflake OAuth credentials for viewing sample data, click Get started.
  4. An Authorizing dialog appears. After authorization is successful, close the Authorizing dialog.

You can now view sample data using Snowflake OAuth credentials! 🎉

Did you know?

If your Atlan admin has enabled sample data download, you can export sample data in a CSV file.

Databricks

Atlan supports Databricks OAuth 2.0 SSO authentication for Databricks connections. Before you can view sample data with SSO credentials, first enable SSO authentication for Databricks in Atlan.

To set up your SSO credentials for viewing sample data for Databricks:

  1. On the Assets page, click a Databricks asset to view its asset profile.
  2. From the asset profile, click Sample data.
  3. To set up your SSO credentials for viewing sample data, click Get started.
  4. An Authorizing dialog appears and you are redirected to sign in with your Databricks account. From the corresponding screen, click Authorize to enable authentication.
  5. After authorization is successful, close the Authorizing dialog.

You can now view sample data using SSO credentials! 🎉

Remove SSO credentials

To remove your SSO credentials for a connection:

  1. On the Assets page, click an asset to view its asset profile.
  2. From the asset profile, click Sample data.
  3. At the bottom of the Sample data screen, hover over the timestamp and then click Log out.
  4. In the Log out from sample data preview dialog, click Log out to confirm.
