App Marketplace

This FAQ answers common questions about the App Marketplace platform, developer benefits, and the types of apps you can build.

What is the App Marketplace?

The App Marketplace is a customer-level platform within Atlan (not yet centralized) that enables apps, extensions, and connectors built on the Apps Framework to be published and shared with selected or all customers. It offers developers a way to distribute and scale their apps without needing to manage infrastructure or go-to-market efforts.

How does the marketplace help developers?

Distribution: Make your app available to specific customers or broadly across organizations.

Visibility: Marketplace listings give you a direct channel to business users and admins.

Scale: Build once and deploy across multiple tenants or industries with no code changes.

Can I deploy the same app to multiple customers?

Yes. You can:

  • Build once and publish centrally
  • Configure runtime access, scopes, and variables per customer
  • Manage all instances from a central deployment pipeline

What kinds of apps can I build?

You can build:

  • Metadata tools: for example, quality dashboards, glossary UIs, lineage visualizers
  • Workflow automations: for example, tag triggers, classification-based actions
  • Connectors: for example, sync metadata with governance tools, ticketing systems
  • Embedded UIs: for example, panels in asset profiles or full custom views

And many more. Apps can be internal, customer-specific, or reusable across organizations.

Can I monetize my app?

Not currently. Monetization isn't yet available through the marketplace. However:

  • Enterprise partners can distribute apps as part of their service offering
  • Monetization and billing features are on the roadmap
