Create knowledge folder
Create knowledge folders to organize unstructured documents in Atlan. Upload files to enable context agents to process your documentation and extract meaningful metadata, terms, relationships, and business insights.
Create knowledge folder and upload files
- From the top right, click + New and select Knowledge Folder.
- In the upload panel:
- Select an existing folder, or
- Enter a new folder name to create one.
- Add files:
- Drag and drop files, or
- Click to browse and select files from your computer.
You can upload multiple files at once.
- Click Upload.
- Wait for all files to show a Completed status.
- Click Open Folder to view the uploaded files.
View processed files
After upload, Atlan processes the files to extract metadata and relationships.
- Open a file from the Files list in the folder.
- On the file's profile page:
- In the right panel, select any term under Related terms to open its glossary entry.
- Go to the Lineage tab to view extracted relationships and downstream usage.
Review extracted terms and business rules
- Open the knowledge file in the catalog—search for it directly, or select it from the Files list in the knowledge folder.
- On the file's profile page, find the extracted terms in the right panel under the related terms section.
- Click any term to open its glossary entry and see the extracted business rule text and the catalog assets the rule applies to.
