Export administrative configuration
App

You can export administrative configuration from Atlan into an Excel workbook. This helps you back up your configuration, support audits, and review your access model outside Atlan by exporting users, groups, personas, purposes, and policies.

Prerequisites​

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Access to the Admin Export app in the workflow center. If you don't see it, contact your Atlan admin or Atlan support.
  • Admin permissions in Atlan to configure and run workflows that manage users, groups, personas, purposes, and policies.

Set up workflow​

  1. In your Atlan workspace, go to the homepage and click New workflow in the top navigation bar.

  2. Search for Admin export, and then select Set up workflow.

  3. In the Workflow name field, enter a descriptive name that clearly identifies the purpose of this export, such as atlan-admin-export.

Configure the export​

  1. In Objects to include, select the administrative objects you want to export (for example, Users, Groups, Personas, Purposes, and Policies).

  2. In Include out-of-the-box policies, select No. If you need a complete view of system policies for audits or troubleshooting, select Yes instead.

  3. In File format, select Single Excel file. This option exports all selected object types into one .xlsx workbook, with a separate worksheet (tab) for each type. If you want a separate file per object type, select Multiple CSV files instead.

  4. In Export via, select Email to send the export to one or more recipients. In Email addresses, enter the recipient addresses (comma-separated). When the workflow finishes, Atlan emails the exported file to those addresses and it remains available from the workflow run details for download.

  5. Schedule and run the workflow. Run it once for a one-time export, or set a recurring schedule to generate updated exports at a regular interval for audits and reporting.
