Connection errors
Troubleshoot IBM Db2 for z/OS connection errors, including Db2 Connect license activation failures (ERRORCODE=-4230).
Use this guide to resolve errors that appear when Atlan connects to your Db2 for z/OS subsystem.
Db2 Connect license invalid or not activated
The IBM Data Server for JDBC and SQLJ license was invalid or was not activated for the DB2 for z/OS subsystem. ERRORCODE=-4230, SQLSTATE=42968
Cause
The Db2 Connect license version on the z/OS subsystem setting doesn't match the license activated for your subsystem, or the subsystem has no activated Db2 Connect license. The IBM Db2 12.1 JDBC driver, used with the 12.1 setting, only accepts a 12.1 license. This error appears only after the network connection succeeds, so it often surfaces right after you resolve firewall or DDF port issues.
Solution
- Ask your Db2 administrator which Db2 Connect license version is activated for the subsystem.
- In the crawler's connection details, set Db2 Connect license version on the z/OS subsystem to match:
- For any 12.1 license, select 12.1 (any 12.1.x).
- For any earlier license, such as 11.5.7 or 11.1.4, select 11.5 or earlier (11.5.x, 11.1.x, 10.5.x, 10.1.x and older).
- If the error persists with 11.5 or earlier selected, the subsystem has no activated Db2 Connect license. Ask your Db2 administrator to activate one with the
db2connectactivateutility from the license activation kit. - Rerun Test Authentication in Atlan.
