Set up Databricks with Atlan MCP
Connect Databricks to the Atlan MCP server to access governed metadata, such as glossary definitions, lineage, ownership, certification status, and data quality, in your Databricks AI experiences.
Databricks acts as an MCP client: once you install the Atlan MCP connection from Databricks Marketplace and sign in to Atlan, its tools become available to your Databricks AI experiences automatically, with no code changes required. Databricks uses OAuth client authentication to connect to Atlan MCP.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- An Atlan tenant with Remote MCP enabled.
- Your Atlan domain name. This is the part before
.atlan.com. - An Atlan OAuth client ID and client secret. Generate these in Atlan from Settings (Admin) → API access → OAuth by selecting Generate new → Generate OAuth Client. For more information, see OAuth clients.
- Permission in Databricks to add Marketplace connections.
