OKTA

This article takes us through how OKTA can be integrated with Atlan

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ A step by step guide to configure OKTA with Atlan

STEP 1: Create an SSO app inside the product.

a. Login to Atlan as an Admin user and navigate to the Admin interface.

b. Click on "SSO" and then click on "Add New".

c. Select "Okta" and than click on "Next".

d. Copy the Atlan SAML Assertion URL and Atlan Audience URI (SP Entity ID) values and save it for use later. This will be required when we configure SAML in Okta.

e. Save these settings.

STEP 2: Add a new application to your OKTA org

  • Login to your Okta org and navigate to the Application interface.

  • Click "Add Application" and then click on "Create New App"

  • Select SAML 2.0 as Sign on method and than click on "Create"

  • Enter a name for the app, for example, 'ATLAN' and click on "Next".

STEP 3: Configure the SAML settings as described below

  • Add attribute mappers on Okta as shown in the image below and click on "Next"

STEP 4: Fill in information for Okta to understand the type of application you have configured.

STEP 5: Click on "Identity Provider Metadata" and save it

Once you fill in this information asked for in the previous step, click "Next". A new screen will open up as shown below.

Click on "Identity Provider Metadata" and save it as an xml file.

STEP 6: Assign the application to the users.

  • Login to your Okta org and navigate to the Directory interface.

  • Click on "People" and select the user to whom you want to assign the application

STEP 7: Upload the metadata file inside the product.

a. Login to Atlan as an Admin user and navigate to the Admin interface.

b. Click on "SSO" and than click on "Edit" against the Okta app

c. Import the metadata file as shown in the screenshot below

d. After uploading the metadeta file, the attributes need to be mapped in the product as well. Please refer to the screenshot below.

e. Now save the settings by clicking on Save.

  • Logout from Atlan

  • Login to Atlan with Okta

  • You'll receive a verification mail to link your Atlan account with the Okta account

  • Confirm account linking in the mail
