To fully delete glossary terms or archived items:

- [Archived assets](https://docs.atlan.com/llms/catalog/discovery/access-archived-assets/llms.txt) are _soft-deleted_. This means that those assets will not be cluttering the UI but are still available to search for and even recover if needed.

- If absolutely essential, assets can be [hard-deleted via API](https://docs.atlan.com/llms/platform/python/delete-asset/llms.txt). At that point, they are gone forever.
