> Each [term](/product/capabilities/governance/glossary/concepts/what-is-a-glossary#term) in a glossary should be unique. Duplicate terms in the same glossary may cause confusion rather than provide the context that users need.

Each [term](https://docs.atlan.com/llms/governance/glossary/what-is-a-glossary/llms.txt) in a glossary should be unique. Duplicate terms in the same glossary may cause confusion rather than provide the context that users need.

However, you can [create terms](https://docs.atlan.com/llms/governance/glossary/set-up-glossaries/llms.txt) with the same name and add them to separate glossaries. This can be helpful for terms that are common across different domains or teams - for example, the term `Metrics` can belong to the `Finance`, `Marketing`, and `Product` glossaries. In this case, when a user searches for the term `Metrics`, the glossary name will provide additional context, such as whether it belongs to the finance, marketing, or product team glossary.
