# Command center

Command center is fastest way to navigate Atlan new UI. Open from anywhere to search for assets, ask Atlan AI questions, preview results, apply filters, and take common actions without switching pages.

It brings search and AI into single palette. As you type, Command center surfaces relevant assets, suggestions, conversations, and live previews so you can move quickly without breaking flow.

Command center doesn't change what you can access. Permissions, metadata visibility, and search behavior remain same. It only changes how you access search and Ask Atlan.

:::info Who can use this?
Command center is available to all Atlan users, including admins, members, and guest users.

It follows Atlan existing permission model, so you only see assets and conversations you are allowed to access.

This feature is available only in new UI. If your tenant doesn't have new UI enabled, [contact Atlan support](https://docs.atlan.com/support/submit-request).

## What you can do

Command center is available from every page in new UI, so you can search or ask without interrupting workflow.

- Open with `⌘K` on Mac or `Ctrl+K` on Windows from anywhere 
- On home page, click search box or start typing 
- On asset profile, select **Search or Ask** in top-right corner 

- Start typing to search or ask question 
- Use arrow keys to move through results and suggestions 
- Press `Enter` to open result or trigger action 
- Press `Esc` once to go back, or twice to close 

From Command center, you can:

- Ask Atlan in natural language and continue conversations in same thread 
- Search across assets with familiar keyword search behavior 
- Preview results inline before opening 
- Switch between search and Ask Atlan 
- Resume recent conversations and revisit recently viewed assets 
- Narrow results using filters like connector, domain, asset type, and certificate 
- Tag specific assets using `@` to focus context 
- Start with skill using `/` when available 

## Search or ask

Command center supports both keyword search and conversational queries. Use search when you know what you are looking for and want to find it quickly, such as table, column, dashboard, glossary term, or domain.

Use Ask Atlan when you want answers, explanations, or to explore topic in natural language. Open Command center, select Ask Atlan, type question, and press `Enter`. Continue conversation in same thread to refine or go deeper.

## Preview results inline

As you move through results, Command center shows live previews so you can evaluate relevance before opening asset. Previews can include asset name, hierarchy, owners, and certification status.

## Narrow results with filters

Filters appear below search box and help you scope results quickly. You can filter by connector, domain, asset type, certificate, or open full filter set.

Filters are additive, and active filters appear as removable chips.

You can also type filters directly into search bar:

- `connection:` to scope by connection 
- `db:` to scope by database 
- `schema:` to scope by schema 

## Tag asset or skill

Use `@` and `/` to add context before starting conversation.

- Type `@` and select asset to anchor question to specific asset 
- Type `/` and select chat-enabled skill to start with predefined workflow 

## What stays same

Command center changes entry point, not underlying behavior.

- Permissions remain unchanged 
- Keyword search continues to work as before 
- Metadata, lineage, and governance are unaffected
