Steps to integrate your Hana storage with Atlan

Atlan natively supports SAP Hana, which allows you to seamlessly integrate the SAP Hana database with your Atlan workspace.

๐Ÿ”‘ SAP Hana user permissions

Make sure you run these commands as USER ADMIN

Follow the instructions below to configure user permissions.

  1. On the "System Overview" page, navigate to the "User & Role" Management area, and choose option "Assign privileges" to users. The "Assign Privileges" app opens.

  2. Find the user you want to edit. The user's existing privileges and who assigned them are already displayed.

  3. To assign privileges to the user follow the instruction below:

    1. Go to OBJECT PRIVILEGES and click on EDIT.

    2. Choose Add and select the following Privileges

      • For SCHEMAS, add SELECT/SELECT CDS/SELECT CDS METADATA

      • For TABLES, add SELECT

        1. Save the privilege assignment.

        2. Go to SYSTEM PRIVILEGES and click EDIT.

        3. Choose Add and select the following Privileges

      • CATALOG READ

        1. Save the privilege assignment.

๐Ÿ“œ Prerequisites for SAP Hana integration

Before you start integrating SAP Hana with Atlan, you'll need some information that will help establish a connection between Atlan and your SAP Hana account:

  • Hostname: The URI before ":" in the endpoint of your SAP Hana instance, visible under SAP Hana Cloud Platform.

  • Port: The port after ":" in the endpoint of your SAP Hana instance, visible under SAP Hana Cloud Platform.

  • Username & Password: This is the username and password for your SAP Hana instance.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ A step-by-step guide to integrate SAP Hana with Atlan

STEP 1: Select the source

  1. Log into your Atlan workspace.

  2. On the home screen, click on the "New Integration" button on the top right corner. You will see a dialogue box with the list of sources available on your workspace.

  3. Select "SAP Hana" from the list of options, and click on "Next".

STEP 2: Provide credentials

  1. You will see an option to either select a preconfigured credential from the dropdown menu or to create a credential. To set up a new connection, click on the "Create Credential" button.

  2. You will be required to fill in your SAP Hana credentials. Below is an example of the credentials required

    1. Hostname: 08bb96-1544-4850-98f9-553ac2995.hanacloud.ondemand.com:443

    2. Port: 443

    3. Username: username

    4. Password: xxxxxxx

  3. Once you have filled in the details, click on "Next".

STEP 3: Set up your configuration

  1. Specify the database you want to crawl.

  2. Select Schema and table you want to crawl. Check Include All to include all schemas and tables.

  3. Choose whether to run the crawler once or schedule it for a daily, weekly, or monthly run. You will be asked to specify the timezone for the run.

  4. Click on "Create". Your connection is now created.

๐Ÿ Monitoring your SAP Hana integration

Once the integration setup is completed, you will be redirected to the "Monitor" tab for your SAP Hana asset, where you can monitor its progress.
