Common questions about syncing between SqlDBM and Atlan.

#### Who starts syncs?

A user with the Governance role in SqlDBM. Atlan doesn't run a crawler or a workflow for this integration, and there is no schedule. Each push or pull is started from the project's **Atlan integration** menu in SqlDBM.

#### Do pushes overwrite existing values?

A push merges. It writes the mapped values and leaves every other property alone. An empty text or URL field in SqlDBM clears the matching property in Atlan, so review the mapping before pushing fields your team hasn't filled in yet.

#### Do pulls change models without review?

No. Every pull opens a comparison screen in SqlDBM that lists each object and value the pull changes, including values it clears. Nothing is applied until a user selects **Apply**, and the project still has to be saved as a new revision afterward.

#### Can SqlDBM change custom metadata structures?

Only a structure marked as SqlDBM-owned, with the **Name** `SqlDBM` and `[managed-by:sqldbm]` in its description. On that structure, SqlDBM adds a connection to a property's **Connections** and adds missing options to a dropdown. It never removes an option, and it never touches a structure owned by another tool.

#### Pushed values aren't visible on asset pages. Why?

The property isn't applicable to the asset's connection. On a SqlDBM-owned structure, SqlDBM widens the scope itself and Atlan reflects it within a minute. On any other structure, an Atlan admin has to add the connection under the property's **Connections**. #### Why does SqlDBM warn about pulling right after pushing?

Atlan may not have indexed the push yet. A pull within five minutes of a push to the same database can propose undoing values that are still being indexed. Wait a few minutes, then pull again.

#### Does this integration bring SqlDBM models into Atlan?

No. It syncs custom metadata values on warehouse assets that Atlan has already cataloged. Entities, relationships, and versions from the SqlDBM project aren't created as Atlan assets.
